It All Happens Here Starlight Mountain Theater presents
Footloose
February 5-13, 2010

This Starlight favorite is back by popular demand. “Exhilarating! Spectacular! Fun! Fabulous!  This show rocks!”  Critic Jeffrey Lyons states, “You’ll have a hard time staying in your seat!”  Based on the 1984 hit movie, Footloose is the story of the new kid in town, a free-spirited hero who reminds everyone that it's no sin to be young. A family musical with electrifying music and dance, it is the tale of struggling to overcome well-intentioned but misguided oppression, and coming to terms with loss - a boy's loss of his father and a man's loss of his son. Don’t miss the show that critics call, “The Grease for the new millennium!”

The Sound of Music Music Theater of Idaho presents
The Sound of Music
February 19-27, 2010

The final collaboration between Rodgers and Hammerstein was destined to become the world's most beloved musical.  When a postulant proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain.  Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain, and they marry.  Upon returning from their honeymoon, they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the Captain's immediate service to their navy.  The family's narrow escape over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II provides one of the most thrilling and inspirational finales ever presented in the theatre.  The motion picture version remains the most popular movie of all times.

Into the Woods Music Theater of Idaho presents
Into the Woods
June 18-26, 2010

An ambivalent Cinderella? A blood-thirsty Little Red Ridinghood? A Prince Charming with a roving eye? A Witch...who raps? They’re all among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s fractured fairy tale. When a Baker and his Wife learn they’ve been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell, swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red, Rapunzel and Jack (the one who climbed the beanstalk). Everyone’s wish is granted at the end of Act One, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later, with disastrous results. What begins a lively irreverent fantasy in the style of ”The Princess Bride” becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children.

Cinderella Music Theater of Idaho presents
Cinderella
December 3-11, 2010

The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale is reborn with the Rodgers & Hammerstein hallmarks of originality, charm and elegance. Originally presented on television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, Rodgers & Hammerstein's CINDERELLA was the most widely viewed program in the history of the medium. Its recreation in 1965 starring Lesley Ann Warren was no less successful in transporting a new generation to the miraculous kingdom of dreams-come-true, and so was a second remake in 1997, which starred Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother. As adapted for the stage, with great warmth and more than a touch of hilarity, the hearts of children and adults alike still soar when the slipper fits.
